There's an old teaching that the heart, like any living thing, grows toward what we feed it. Mindfulness teachings name four qualities worth feeding: loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. These are not lofty ideals, but practical capacities. Trainable. Available in traffic, in grief, in an ordinary day.
Each one-hour session includes:
· A guided meditation (15–20 minutes) to settle into the quality itself
· A 10-minute talk — the heart of each session, where Cynde unpacks the teaching, its near and far enemies, and how to carry it into daily life
· Space for journaling, reflection, sharing, and discussion
Three ways to join:
Existing members: Included in your membership. To register, log in to Banyan, click on the Lounge, and find the link for this "Dharmette" series on the left side toolbar.
Non-Banyan Members: Join this series — $80. Four live sessions with Cynde, and all recordings are yours to keep — permanently. No subscription, no membership, nothing to cancel. For those who want this one series, owned outright.

Join Banyan Commons — $20/month. Membership includes this series and a new one every month, plus live guided meditation every weekday, and our Banyan's full recorded meditations library — all for as long as you're a member. If you want the living stream of practice rather than a single course, this is your door.

The sessions can each stand alone, so even if you can't make all four, you're welcome. But those who travel the whole arc will find something the individual practices can't offer alone: a heart that is balanced, compassionate, and resilient — not as an idea, but as a way of moving through your days.
I'd love to practice with you and hope to see you there..
